Development Editor

The Development Editor position is for lawyers who have exceptional writing skills.

  • Supervisor: Product Development Manager
  • Job type: Full-time
  • Working hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • Location: Houston, Texas

Duties:

  • Draft content for new and existing projects based on extensive legal research.
  • Review and edit drafts from other Development Editors.
  • Participate in the planning, scheduling, and development of new projects.
  • Respond to inquiries from management, as well as production, sales, and marketing personnel.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from ABA-approved law school.
  • Two years of law practice preferred.
  • Strong writing background, preferably having been published (such as law books, journal articles, or CLE papers).
  • Solid research skills, analytical ability, and editorial judgment.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Westlaw, and other online applications.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work without constant supervision, give and receive constructive feedback, and collaborate with others.
  • Applicants must complete an editing and writing test before a second interview can be scheduled.
