Graduate Legal Editorial Assistant

The Graduate Legal Editorial Assistant position is for law school graduates and lawyers who would like to try out legal publishing as a career.

Duties:

  • Verify accuracy and ensure quality of all content in assigned books, including substantive cite analysis.
  • Ensure use of proper editorial style and cite form.
  • Research legal issues and edit book text when necessary.
  • Cooperate with managing editor to accomplish all necessary procedures for verifying book content.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from ABA-approved law school.
  • Strong editing background, preferably on law review or other law-related journal.
  • Solid research skills, analytical ability, and editorial judgment.
  • Familiarity with Bluebook citation rules.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Westlaw, and other online applications.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work without constant supervision.
  • Applicants must complete an editing test before a second interview can be scheduled
  • Requires a commitment of at least 30 hours a week
  • Requires a four-month commitment
  • You may be asked to take an editing test
